DAY 1 CHIANG MAI - TREKKING
In the morning (approz. time 09.00) pick up from the hotel. First travel by pick up truck for half an hour to the local countryside market of Mae Malai. Observe the local people trading their goods and chance to do some shopping before your trek, too. Drive on to Mokfa waterfall for lunch break. Opportunity to take a cool bath. Then drive along some winding roads to Huay Nam Dang National Park and arrive at a Shan village. From here the trekking starts and after approx. 2 hours you reach the Karen hill tribe village Baan Mae Jok. Explore the village and have some chats with the locals. Stay overnight in a simple hut with mosquito nets.
DAY 2 TREKKING
After breakfast continue trekking through the green wilderness. It takes about 3 hours, mostly through some dense forest, until you reach a small elephant camp in the jungle. Time to relax, while the tour guide is preparing the lunch. At the same time the mahouts will get the elephants out of the forest and make them ready for your ride. After lunch take a one hour ride on one of these giants and arrive at the Karen hill tribe village of Baan Pa Khaolam. Time to observe the simple life style of the people in the wilderness.
Stay overnight again in a simple hut with mosquito nets.
DAY 3 TREKKING - CHIANG MAI
After a filling breakfast go to the river and board the bamboo raft. Today you will experience some exciting bamboo rafting down the Mae Taeng River with two stops on the way at a Lahu- and another Karen village. Enjoy some beautiful and idyllic landscapes along the river. After passing through some rapids finally reach a Shan village forlunch break. Afterwards the pick up truck will transfer you back to Chiang Mai, where you will arrive at approx. time 16.00. Transfer to the hotel, airport or railway station, depends on your further schedule.

FLEXIBILITY:
On request there is also 2 days/1 night trekking package available in this area. Accommodation in Chiang Mai before and/or after this tour can be booked with us as well.
REMARKS:
A small rucksack and a water canteen can be provided. During the cool season (Dec-Feb) we recommend to bring a long sleeves sweater or a jacket. A mosquito repellent and a torch can be very useful as well. Otherwise light clothes and good walking shoes are recommended to wear during the trek.
