Wat Phra Sing Woramahaviharn Chiangmai

The full name of the Buddhist temple Wat Phra Sing in Chiangmai is Wat Phra Singh Woramahaviharn. Chiangmai is one of the most important provinces in Northern Thailand. King Ananda Mahidol Rama VIII, the older brother of the present King Bhumibol Adulyadej Rama IX, bestowed the Phra Singh Temple in 1935 the status of a Royal temple of the first grade.
The Wat Phra Sing temple is located in the western part of the old city centre of Chiang Mai. The main entrance of the Wat Phra Sing temple is guarded by two big lions. This entrance is situated at the end of Rachadamnoen road which runs eastern to the Tapae Gate and to the Ping River.
Another famous Buddhist temple in Chiangmai is Wat Chedi Luang.
