THE RARE PART OF THAILAND'S NORTH

DEPARTURE:
Daily from Chiang Mai, minimum 2 persons

In this guided tour you will travel from Chiang Mai towards the east into the
provinces of Phrae and Nan, which are rarely visited by tourists. This area
offers probably not as many tourist attractions like Chiang Rai or Mae Hong Sorn
but will offer you nice mountain sceneries, as well as traditional and rural
country live-style. This trip is ideal for people who have been in Northern
Thailand before and now would like to see something "different". Request and Booking Form

Day 1

Chiang Mai

In the morning arrival in Chiang Mai and transfer to your hotel in the city
center. In the afternoon sightseeing through the northern capital. Overnight
in Chiang Mai.

Day 2

Chiang Mai - Phrae

Early morning leave Chiang Mai to the south and visit beautiful Haripunchai
temple in Lamphun as well as a local market. Continue to Lampang. On the way
stop at the Thai Elephant Conservation Center (The center's main objective is
to preserve Thai elephants and provide medical treatment and care to sick
elephants). In Lampang enjoy a ride in a horse drawn carriage (they are unique
in Lampang). Visit a burmese temple and continue to Phrae for overnight.

Day 3

Phrae - Nan

Drive through the small provincial town to the Ban Pra Tub Jai, a house of beautifully carved teak pillars which can not be found elsewhere. Leave the town towards the north and visit Phae Muang Phee, a small area dotted with various formations deriving from earth denudation caused by flowing currents and susequently eroded by rains having sand stone as the top level. On the way to Nan visit a Meo tribe village and explore a small cave in the wilderness. Overnight in Nan.

Day 4

Nan - Chiang Mai

In the morning take a short tour through this old town (established in the same period as Sukhothai) with its beautiful old monasterys. Travel on along the mountain wilderness and visit a rare Mlabri hilltribe village. This tribe has originated from Laos. Have lunch at the pictueresque lake in Phayao. Go on towards Chiang Mai through the mountains and have a stop at the hot springs in Wieng Doi. Late aternoon arrive back in the northern capital for overnight.

Day 5

Chiang Mai

Day at leisure until transfer to the airport......or take an optional half day “mini safari” which includes an elephant ride, bamboo rafting and driving on an ox-cart
