THE VALLEY OF MAE HONG SORN

The natural and attractive landscapes of the northwest are the highlights of this tour, which includes the sightseeing in Chiang Mai as well.

Day 1 Chiang Mai

On arrival transfer to a hotel in the city center and the rest of the day at leisure. Opportunity to explore the northern capital by your own.

Day 2 Chiang Mai - Pai

Start in the morning with a sightseeing tour of the northern capital and the famous Doi Suthep mountain temple, which is the landmark of Chiang Mai City. Leave Chiang Mai to the north and visit a local market in the countryside. Stop at a waterfall in the jungle (opportunity to take a bath). After lunch travel along beautiful and mountainous landscapes to Pai. On the way explore the Pong Deut Hot Springs. Overnight at the resort just outside Pai.

Day 3 Pai - Mae Hong Sorn

In the morning opportunity to visit the countryside school just opposite the resort. Leave Pai and travel along wonderful mountain scenery for a stop at a Lisu hill tribe village. Passing the village of Soppong and visit the spectacular Thum Lod cave. Continue on winding roads through the wilderness towards Mae Hong Sorn. On the way see various Lahu hill tribe villages. Arrive Mae Hong Sorn in the afternoon for overnight at the nice resort on the banks of the Pai River outside of the town. Our driver is ready to bring you for a walk in to the town on evening.

Day 4 Mae Hong Sorn

Take a boat or bamboo raft (you have the choice!) for a trip on the Pai River. Then start for a one hour ride on an elephant back through the surrounding jungle. Later visit a hidden Paduang ("longnecks") village. After lunch visit two beautiful Shan temple, one on a hill which offers superb views, and the other one at the picturesque city lake. Overnight again in Mae Hong Sorn.

Day 5 Mae Hong Sorn - Chiang Mai

In the morning some time free at leisure. Time to explore the nearby Shan village by your own......or just relax at the pool in the nice resort. Approx. mid day take a short flight back to Chiang Mai and then visit some of the well known handicraft factories, such as umbrella making, woodcarving, lacquer ware etc. Transfer to the hotel in the city center for overnight.

Day 6 Chiang Mai

Day at leisure until transfer to the airport..........or extend your stay.
